While having the map feature with local pins looks great what I recommend is a search bar with image for the home page. Then when the user clicks a local service EG "landscaping" then the map view is displayed for landscaping companies near me is displayed for that category. As a user, I don't care about plumbers near me if I am searching for a landscaping company near me.
